Our Programs
Current Programs
Tuition
Mwamba House offers after school classes to children in the community to assist in supplementing their schooling.
Sports
We have established a sports program to get kids in the local community involved in Mwamba House, and to provide a fun and safe way of interacting with staff members and each other.
School Student Support
Mwamba House provides school accessories and uniforms to those orphans and children who cannot otherwise afford these extra costs associated with attending school. Individuals and businesses in the local community are encouraged to assist in sponsoring children from Mwamba House.
Reading Buddies
Mwamba House organises small reading groups to assist primary school aged children in developing their literacy skills in both Swahili and English. The groups are run by High School Students in the local area who generously Fundraising their time to assist the younger kids in their own community.
Future Programs
Income Generating Projects
We aim to establish projects that will help make Mwamba House self sufficient, and provide training and employment to the vulnerable and disadvantaged community members associated with Mwamba House.
Family food program
We plan to assist in supplementing the nutritional needs of those children who do not have access to meals and clean drinking water, through the delivery of food parcels to those families who struggle to provide more than one meal per day for their children.
Street kid centre
Mwamba House is committed to establishing a safe place for street kids to meet, access education, information, food, health care and support. Or goal is to act as a link between the street kids and social workers and to guide street kids into seeking placement in an orphanage or with a foster family.
Counselling and support groups
In the future we plan to provide a safe space for HIV+ women to meet together to discuss issues and support each other in a non-judgemental environment
Vocational Education Workshops
Mwamba House aims to provide classes to teenagers and adults in the local community which will develop their skills in a particular trade, enabling them to seek skilled employment.
Health Care Clinics
We will be inviting various health care professionals to hold clinics for the children of Mwamba House, and later, the community on site at Mwamba House, such as the Christian Blind Mission, New Hope Dental, etc.
Orphanage
Later down the track, we plan to establish an orphanage or shelter for vulnerable and orphaned children.
